How Do I Get Published?

Monday, June 30th, 2008

This is a question my clients who are new and aspiring writers always ask me.

We write for different reasons: Enjoyment, challenge, and to share information or our creative effort. If you’re going to share what you’ve written, you’ll need a means or venue to get published. But you knew that, of course.

But do you know enough about how to do this?

If you’re an article writer, you can find venues that publish what you write (such as this one). One of the best options to find such a venue or venues is in “Writer’s Market,” a couple-inch thick book that strives to provide users with as much current information about markets as possible; and you can find lots of good e-zines for writers you can subscribe to online at no cost that offer other markets. New Parent’s Guide to Baby Clothes
Many factors come into play when deciding on baby apparel as well. Parents will want a little bit of everything, from practical to lavish. On some levels, a baby wardrobe can be similar in range to your own, just at a smaller scale. New parents also need to think about further down the road. Are you going to have more babies? “Hand me down” clothing is a wonderful thing. You might as well get some good well made clothes for your first baby that will last through a progression of infants. The most frustrating part about picking baby apparel is that the transition from infant to toddler happens so fast, it’s as if it occurs overnight. What Causes Pond Algae and How to Control it

Thursday, June 19th, 2008

The two most common forms of algae that ponds experience are planktonic algae and filamentous algae. Planktonic algae is the type that gives pond that distinctive pea green, soupy color. Planktonic algae in moderation is very important as is the base of the food chain in a pond. However, it is when it is in excess that you get the green water.

Filamentous algae is what you typically see growing on rocks and floating on the surface in mats. It is the stringy, hairlike algae that you often see in the spring and summer months. It has little redeeming value.

Algae in moderation is good for a pond, but when it becomes over abundant, it can cause severe water quality problems. (Read the full post about ‘What Causes Pond Algae and How to Control it’…)

A swimming pool in your own backyard provides hours of fun and entertainment for your family. But keeping your children and pets safe and protected from accidental drowning is vital. Swimming pool fences that completely surround the swimming pool and prevent access to the pool are key to providing this security.

Drowning is the second leading cause of death in children 1 - 14 years old. So it makes sense that a safety pool fence is required by law in many parts of the US since it prevents children and pets from gaining access to your pool. But even if it isn’t required in your area, it is still a necessity to surround your pool with one. (Read the full post about ‘Safety Pool Fences: Protect Your Children and Pets’…)

In the last 20 years there have been tremendous advances in technology and digital photography is one of the most popular advances.
