Festivals and Celebrations in India

There are varied cultures and religions abiding in India. The country is an amalgamation of different traditions, customs, castes and sub-castes. The country is linguistically and religiously based. Except for the metro cities there are specific states in the country which favor particular language or religion. Though Hindi is the official language of India it is preferred mostly in the Northern states and there are different languages preferred otherwise. Hinduism is widespread in India and almost 80% of the people follow Hinduism as their religion. Accordingly there are different festivals celebrated as per the region and the language spoken.
