Unique Baby Shower Food Ideas - How to Plan for Everyone
If you are planning a baby shower, probably one of the most difficult segments to plan, besides the baby shower favors, is the menu. Why? The answer is an easy one; there are just so many yummy recipes to choose from! So take it easy, relax and enjoy, we have you covered. You can enjoy your party and your guests and all those wonderful baby gifts or baby gift baskets you will receive!
What you serve is usually dependent, at least in part, on the time of day in which the shower will be held. If the shower will take place earlier in the day, you might consider a brunch-type menu. If it will be held during evening hours, you may want to opt for a dessert and munchies menu.
Before you decide on the actual food you will be serving, you need to decide if it will be a more formal sit down meal or a buffet style menu and seating arrangement.
(If you choose the second option make sure that you have enough chairs for each guest to sit comfortably, while eating. Tables are not an absolute necessity, in this case.)
For a buffet style meal, you have several choices. You can serve sandwiches, salads, finger foods (such as law veggies and dips, ham rolls, cheese and crackers or even a relish tray) and a variety of desserts. Think cupcakes, cookies and everything else that you can eat without the benefit of using silverware.
Another option for hot food buffet is a crock pot buffet. You can make almost anything in a crock pot. Anything from chili, to Swedish meatballs, to macaroni and cheese, to baked beans, to broccoli and cheese soup, to everything in between can be made in one of these wonderful appliances.
Simply line them all up on your buffet table. The food will stay hot, for the duration of the shower. (Since most people only have one crock pot, dont hesitate to ask friends or family members to borrow theirs, or the occasion. Very rarely, if ever, will they deny your request.)
You can even ask certain guests to bring a dish, which has been made in a crock pot. That way theres no need to worry about leftovers, because each guest can simply take any remaining food, left in her crock pot, back home to enjoy herself.
If you choose to host a more formal sit down meal, when deciding on the appropriate food to serve at the baby shower consider having the event catered. The cost is more and worth it when you consider the time and frustration will save you, by not having to prepare the meal yourself.
Whether you decide on a sit down meal or a casual style buffet is totally up to you. Just remember that no matter what you decide to serve, as baby shower food, your guests will appreciate your effort and a tasty meal.
